Lawrence, Kan. - Junior Durell Busby broke his own school record in taking first, the women's 4x880 yard relay team also took gold and the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee men's and women's track & field teams had a tremendous final day of action at the 85th Kansas Relays hosted by Kansas University Saturday.

Busby lowered his own school record with a blazing run of 13.90 seconds in the 110m hurdles to take the top spot on the podium at the storied meet, moving into the top 20 in the nation in the event.

"This was arguably the best we've ever performed (at this meet)," Milwaukee head coach Pete Corfeld said. "We came out strong right from the start on Wednesday and continued that to finish strong today. To take home three gold medals is great for our program and we'll just continue to use that to build toward our conference championships in a few weeks."

Erika Hanson, Kristi Schuette, Sammy Woller and Lauren Grant combined to win the 4x880 yard relay with a time of 9:20.90, over four seconds in front of the next closest team.

"This is a great result for our program," Corfeld said. "Shelby (Schaal) was going to run but she was understandably a little tired after winning the heptathlon. We asked Lauren to do her first ever 800 and she said yes without hesitation. This is what Panther track and field is all about."

On the men's side, Jeff Pigg, Brian Klipstein, Jake Spaciel and Toney Fisher also landed on the podium in the event. The four combined to run the event in 7:45.72 for third place, less than two seconds shy of first. Spaciel also ran in the 800m, taking seventh in 1:54.75.

Senior Calanetta Burrows just missed shaving time off her national ranking for the third-straight week, finishing the 400m hurdles in 1:01.28 for fifth overall. Junior Jake Reilly took eighth in the 1500m, crossing the line in 3:55.15.

In field events, one week after nearly breaking the school record, sophomore Nick Hughes leaped 6-6 3/4 (2.00m) to take 12th. Senior Ben Crogan also did well, jumping 6-4 3/4 (1.95m) and finished 23rd. In pole vault, senior Courtney Fisher cleared 11-5 3/4 (3.50m) to take 18th.

Junior Samia Taylor took 12th in long jump with a mark of 18-0 1/2 (5.50m).

The Panthers will return to action next weekend, heading to two separate meets. The 103rd running of the Drake Relays will take place Thursday through Saturday (April 26-28), while the Marquette Invitational starts Saturday, April 28 at 10 a.m. at Valley Fields.
