DES MOINES, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men and women's track and field team opened up the 95th Annual Drake Relays with a solid effort from the distance runners. For Anna Christian, Josh Nygren and Ben Uphoff Thursday was a career day.

The three Milwaukee runners each competed in the 10,000-meter run and came away with solid results. Christian, whose previous best time in the event was 38:26.08, came away with a 10th-place finish and a new career best time of 36:44.82. Sophomore Josh Nygren and freshman Ben Uphoff each represented the men in the 10,000-meter run and also came away with new career bests. Nygren had a best time of 31:44.94, but erased that mark by claiming 12th-place and a time of 30:52.71. Uphoff added a 17th-place finish and a time of 31:30.32.

Christian had the longest day of all the Panther runners as she also tagged up with Christine Wampach, Katie Anderson and Kourtney Nault to compete in the four-mile relay. The group of Panthers finished 10th in the event, but did so with a time of 20:52.59. The foursome improved upon last week's time of 21:33.16 at the Kansas Relays (4/17).

The Drake Relays will start back up Friday morning at 8 a.m. UWM will run it's first race, the women's 800-meter relay at approximately 10:25 a.m.
