DES MOINES, Iowa (April 25, 2009) - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up their competition this weekend in Iowa, with athletes competing at the Drake Relays and Kip Janvrin Open.

The Panthers also cancelled their participation at the Marquette Twilight due to inclement weather in the Milwaukee area.

The women's 4x1600m relay team set a school record at Drake with a time of 20:44.79. Seniors Holly Nearman and Danielle Magargee, junior Abbie Zaspel and sophomore Tanaiya Fisher combined on the time and placed 14th in the event. The previous school record was 20:56.

Magargee and Zaspel also competed in the 1500m at the Kip Janvrin Open in nearby Indianola, Iowa. Magargee placed second in 4:47.09, while Zaspel was fourth in 4:50.82.

Junior Quinn Mongoven highlighted the men's performances in Iowa, tying the school high jump record for the fourth time in five meets this season. He once again cleared 6-10 3/4, a mark that he holds with two others and the NCAA regional-qualifying height.

The 4x200m also ran a near school-record time, taking seventh in the event. Senior Patrick Casey, juniors Tyler Bucholz and Isaiah Adams, and sophomore Cory Yttre ran a time of 1:25.74 to miss the school mark by just 0.39. Adams and Bucholz were a part of the school-record quartet as freshmen in 2007.

Milwaukee returns to action Friday through Sunday at the Horizon League Championships. UIC and Loyola are hosting the meet in Lisle, Ill.
