April 30, 2005
DES MOINES, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's track and field team broke a school record in the sprint medley relay and posted strong times in the 10,000m at the Drake Relays, this weekend in Des Moines, Iowa. The meet was non-scoring and ran Thursday through Saturday. In the sprint medley, juniors Iris Perez, Griffin McNulty and Tenia Fisher teamed with sophomore Timeka Walker to post a time of 4:03.91, good enough for 14th place. The quartet broke the school mark of 4:04.16 set at this same meet in 2003. Fisher was also on that relay, joined by current teammates, senior Sara Vanderloop and junior Katie Anderson. Walker also ran a time of 11.95 in the preliminaries of the 100m to take 18th. Senior Anna Christian led the way in the 10,000m, taking ninth with a time of 36:54.84. She was just over 10 seconds off her personal record, while freshman Angie Huebner reset her PR by over 36 seconds. Huebner finished 12th in 37:38.32. Milwaukee returns to action next weekend at the Wisconsin Twilight on Saturday (May 7). The meet is UWM's only outdoor meet in the state of Wisconsin.
