LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 29, 2009) - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up the first day of competition at the 2009 NCAA Mideast Regional Championships Friday.

Senior Holly Nearman was the day's top finisher, taking 14th in the women's 5000m. She crossed the line in 17:15.94. In all, the Panthers competed in seven of the nine events it has scheduled. The meet concludes Saturday, with freshman Ben Crogan competing in the pole vault and the men's 4x400m relay closing out the meet.

Juniors Kelsey Conrad and Erin Havener also represented the Milwaukee women. Conrad was 18th in the women's 200m in 24.58 and Havener cleared 12-0 to tie for 27th in the women's pole vault.

On the men's side, junior Isaiah Adams took 17th in the preliminaries of the 400m with a time of 47.94. Junior Tyler Bucholz was 24th in the men's 200m with his time of 21.56 and senior Adam Schleis took 23rd in the long jump with a leap of 23-2 3/4. Junior Quinn Mongoven did not register a height in the high jump.
