Panthers Sweep Weekly League Honors
Jan. 16, 2012
MILWAUKEE - Junior Moriah Myles and freshman Aaron Dillon of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's track and field team have been named the Horizon League Field Athletes of the Week, the league office announced this afternoon. Both earn the league honor for just the first time in their collegiate careers after Milwaukee's first meet of the season. Myles had a strong showing at the Carthage Invitational Saturday, winning the shot put and finishing runner-up in weight throw. The junior took first in shot put with a distance of 42-8 3/4, equaling a personal record and the sixth-best in UWM history. Myles also had an impressive effort in weight throw, clearing 50-4 3/4 in the event and finishing second just behind teammate Nancy Harmon. Myles' mark now stands third in Panther indoor history. On the men's side, Dillon cracked UWM's top-10 all-time list in triple jump in just his first-ever collegiate meet. He cleared 47-7 3/4, over one-and-a-half feet further than the next competitor. The freshman is now tied for fifth in Panther history in the event. Dillon also ran in the 55m hurdles at Saturday's meet, taking fifth with a time of 7.85 seconds. The Panthers return to action at home this week, hosting Marquette in their annual indoor dual meet Friday at 6 p.m.
