MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Jan. 18, 2006) - Junior Timeka Walker of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has been named the Horizon League Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 17, the league office announced today.

This is the first such award of Walker's career, while it is the second-straight year a Panther has been honored following the first meet of the season.

Walker helped Milwaukee to a first-place finish at the Division I Invitational last Saturday, winning both the 55m and 200m events. In the 55m, she crossed the line in 7.31, over 0.2 seconds ahead of second place. Walker then posted a time of 25.89 in winning the 200m.

The women's track and field team returns to action Jan. 28 at the Edmonds Cup, hosted by Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. Action begins at 10 a.m.
