MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Junior Tenia Fisher was named this week's Horizon League Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today. This is the first career weekly honor for Fisher and the first award of the season for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's track and field team.

On Saturday, Fisher opened her season in fashion, establishing a fieldhouse and meet record in the 800m at UWM's season-opener, the Division I Invitational. In winning the 800m, Fisher crossed the line in 2:14.15 to eclipse the old fieldhouse and meet marks by over a second and distance herself from second place by over four seconds. The Milwaukee native also ran with the first-place 4x400m relay, which also set a meet standard with its time of 3:58.50. The Panthers went on to take third-place at the seven-team meet.

Fisher's honor gave Milwaukee a sweep of League awards for this week, as junior Gabe Wagoner earned the same honor on the men's side.

The Panthers return to action this weekend (Jan. 21-22) at the Central Collegiate Championships in Champaign, Ill.
