Taylor, Dillon Named Athletes Of The Week

Jan. 23, 2012

MILWAUKEE - Freshman Aaron Dillon and junior Samia Taylor of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's track and field team have been named the Horizon League Field Athletes of the Week, the league office announced this afternoon.

This is the second-straight week Milwaukee has swept the weekly awards. Dillon also won the award last week, taking the league honor for the second time after just his second-career collegiate meet. For Taylor, this marks the seventh time she is recognized by the league, having won the award three times as a freshman and three more as a sophomore.

One week after tying for fifth-place in UWM history in the triple jump, Dillon now stands alone in fifth after jumping 47-10 ¾ (14.60m) to win the event and help lead the Panthers to a thrilling 140-139 victory of Marquette at the Klotsche Center Friday night.

Taylor also had a big hand in Friday's winning effort. The Madison-native tied the Klotsche Center record and second-place all-time in the long jump with a leap of 19-5 ½ (5.93m). She also had an incredible mark of 41-3 ¼ (12.58m) in the triple jump, second only to her jump of 41-7 ¼ from one week earlier.

The Panthers hit the road this weekend, heading to Cedar Falls, Iowa for the Jack Jennett Invitational hosted by Northern Iowa Friday and Saturday.
