MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Feb. 17, 2010) - For the third time this season, and the second-straight week, freshman Samia Taylor of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's track and field team has been named the Horizon League Field Athlete of the Week.

Taylor had been previously honored with the award for the week of Jan. 25 and then again last week.

Last weekend at the Iowa State Cyclone Classic, Taylor shattered the school triple jump record by leaping 40-9 1/2. That distance is almost a full foot better than the previous school standard of 39-9 3/4 she had equaled earlier this season. The mark also earned her second-place at the meet.

The Madison, Wis., native tied the previous record, which she then shared with senior Beth Zimmerman, Jan. 23 in a dual meet vs. Marquette.

Taylor and the Panthers are in action again this weekend, hosting the annual UWM Panther Tune-Up Friday evening at the Klotsche Center. The meet gets underway at 4 p.m. with the field events. Track events follow at approximately 6:30 p.m.
