MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Feb. 25, 2010) - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's track and field teams head to Ann Arbor, Mich., this weekend for the 2010 Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships. The meet begins Saturday and wraps up Sunday.

The Panthers won both the men's and women's team titles last season. The men have won the last six indoor titles, 11 overall and have been runner-up twice. On the women's side, UWM has won six indoor championships overall and taken second six other times over the last 13 seasons.

Milwaukee hosted the UWM Panther Tune-Up last weekend in final preparation for this weekend's league meet. Both Panther squads finished 4-0 to improve to 44-1 all-time at the meet. Senior Kelsey Conrad posted two of UWM's nine wins on the women's side to lead the way. Freshman Dan Simon highlighted the men's performance, setting or tying three personal records and taking first, second and third in those events.

The Panthers enter the league championships leading the league in 13 events. Simon is tops in three of the seven events for the men, including the pole vault (tied with sophomore Ben Crogan, 15-7), long jump (tied with sophomore Jake Whitewater, 22-5) and the heptathlon (4,926 points).

Among the women's six league leaders, senior Jenni Parish is No. 1 in the long jump (19-0 1/2) and the pentathlon (3,527 points).

UWM will return to action March 5 at a last chance qualifier yet to be determined. The Panthers will look to qualify athletes for the NCAA Championships, March 12-13, in Fayetteville, Ark.
