MILWAUKEE, Wis. (March 2, 2006) - Seven members of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee league champion men's and women's track and field teams will travel to South Bend, Ind., this weekend for the Alex Wilson Invitational, a last chance qualifier for the NCAA Championships.

Senior Tenia Fisher, junior Timeka Walker and sophomore Joy VanLaanen will represent the women's side, while seniors Gabe Wagoner and Elliot Enright and juniors Justin Gorman and Jeremy Majors will travel for the men.

Each of the women's competitors won two events at last weekend's Horizon League Indoor Championships, led by Fisher in the 400m and 800m. She was then named the League's Outstanding Running Performer. Walker swept the short sprints, winning both the 60m and 200m in school-record times and broke the league record in the 200m. VanLaanen, a league champion in both the pole vault and long jump, will look to improve on her NCAA Provisional pole vault of 12-11 1/2 achieved at the Iowa State Cyclone Classic.

All four Panther men competed in the finals of the league's 800m championship event, including three among the top four. Wagoner won the event for the second time in his career, while Gorman was third and Majors fourth.

Milwaukee won both the men's and women's League Indoor Championships last weekend in Kent, Ohio. It was the third-straight, and eighth in 10 years, for the men, while the women won for the first time since 2003 and fourth time overall.

The NCAA Championships are March 10-11 in Fayetteville, Ark.
