MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Junior Stephanie Ray of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has been named the Horizon League Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today. She is the first Panther woman honored during the outdoor season, while this is also her first career weekly honor.

Last weekend, Ray took second in the pole vault to lead the Panthers at the Big Blue Invitational. She posted a final height of 11-5 3/4 in the event, before cracking the school's all-time top 10 with her performance in the triple jump. In that event, Ray cleared 36-1 1/4 for a seventh-place finish.

The Panthers are in action this weekend, traveling to Terre Haute, Ind., for Indiana State's Pacesetter Invitational. The two-day event kicks off Friday and runs through Saturday.
