MILWAUKEE, Wis. (April 15, 2008) - Junior Jenni Saarinen of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's track and field team has been named the Horizon League Athlete of the Week for April 14, the league office announced today.

Saarinen is the second Panthers to garner the honor during the outdoor season, following junior Holly Nearman March 31.

Saarinen led Milwaukee at the Sea Ray Relays last weekend in Knoxville, Tenn. She competed in the heptathlon, breaking the school record in the event in taking seventh. The Finland native scored 5,021 points to eclipse her own school mark by 28 points (4,993). She also fell just 29 points shy of an NCAA provisional score.

The Panthers return to action this weekend at the Dave Rankin Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind.
