Zimmerman Named Field Athlete Of The Week
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (April 27, 2010) - Senior Beth Zimmerman of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's track and field team was named the Horizon League Field Athlete of the Week for April 26, the league office announced today. Zimmerman earned the award for the second time this season, after picking up the honor March 29 after breaking her own school triple jump record for the first of two times this season. Over the weekend, Zimmerman competed at the prestigious Drake Relays in the triple jump and the Kip Janvrin Open in the long jump. At Drake, she took 11th with her leap of 40-3 1/4. In the long jump at the nearby Janvrin Open, she took second with a jump of 17-10 3/4. The Watertown, Wis., native also ran with the third-fastest 4x100m relay in school history at Drake. The foursome finished the race in 46.74 to tie for 12th place in the event. Zimmerman and the Panthers are back in action this weekend at the 2010 Horizon League Outdoor Championships Friday through Sunday in Lisle, Ill. Milwaukee's women's team won the indoor title and is in search of an indoor/outdoor league sweep, its first since 2001.
