MILWAUKEE, Wis. (April 29, 2009) - Senior Holly Nearman of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's track and field team has been named the Horizon League Track Athlete of the Week for the week of April 27, the league office announced today.

The award is the fourth of the outdoor season for Nearman. Meanwhile, the Panthers have garnered seven of the 10 weekly awards handed out this season.

Nearman ran the fastest splits on two school record relays at the Drake Relays last weekend. The distance medley relay ran a time of 12:06.17 to break the 13-year old mark. The time placed them 18th in the event at Drake. She also ran with the school-record 4x1600m relay (20:44.79), which took 14th.

Nearman and the Panthers are in action at the Horizon League Championships this weekend. The meet gets underway Friday in Lisle, Ill., and continues through Sunday.
