Panthers Qualify Five For NCAA Regionals
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (May 21, 2010) - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's track and field teams qualified five athletes over seven events for the NCAA West Regional, the NCAA announced today. Four seniors and one freshman will head to the regional meet in Austin, Texas, May 27-29, with hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Championships, June 9-12, in Eugene, Ore. On the men's side, Tyler Bucholz will run in both the 200m and 400m events, while Quinn Mongoven qualified in the high jump. Kelsey Conrad will represent the women in two events--the 100m and 200m, while Beth Zimmerman will compete in the triple jump and Flo Mafany will continue her freshman campaign in the 400m hurdles. A full Panther Regional preview will be released next week in preparation for the meet. The NCAA Regionals underwent a format change in 2010. The number of regional meets was reduced to two, representing the East and West Regions. The qualifications were then limited to the top 48 in the region in each event.
