New Assistant Coach Part Of Staff Additions
Oct. 29, 2003 MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has announced the hiring of four new staff members. Cory Bigler joins the staff as an assistant baseball coach, Marissa Ludewig comes on board as an assistant track and field coach, Stephen Lautz is UWM's new compliance coordinator and Dave Snieg has been hired as an assistant sports information director. Bigler starred as a pitcher at UWM from 1992-1995 before being drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 23rd round. Along with playing in the Pirates' organization, Bigler has served as a pitching coach at Cardinal Stritch University, Whitnall High School and Brookfield Central High School. A graduate of UWM, Bigler will be the Panthers' pitching coach. Ludewig joins Pete Corfeld's staff. She was a first-team all-conference performer at Western Illinois University, where she also earned Mid-Continent Academic All-Conference honors. She is Level I Certified by USA Track and Field and has been serving as a volunteer coach for UWM prior to her hiring. She has also worked as a Database Marketing Coordinator and Assistant Circulation Manager for Reiman Publications in Greenfield. Lautz was a law clerk and associate for Bond, Schoeneck and King in Overland Park, Kan., for the last four years. He represented colleges and universities on matters involving NCAA legislation and conducted investigations of alleged NCAA rules violations. He was also involved in conducting audits of athletic departments, particularly in the areas of recruiting, summer camps and clinics. He did his undergraduate work at Gustavus Adolphus before attending law school at the University of Kansas. He also served as Editor-in-Chief of the Kansas Journal of Law and Public Policy.
Snieg comes to UWM from Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, Fla., where he was a sports information assistant. Snieg, a UW-Parkside graduate and Cedarburg native, was the assistant sports information director at UWP while attending classes at the Kenosha school. Snieg, who has also been a high school track and field coach and assistant high school football coach, will serve as the main media contact for women's soccer, swimming and diving, track and field and cross country at UWM.
