MILWAUKEE - Lauren Felsing of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's volleyball team has been named the U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today.

Felsing, a junior libero, was honored Monday as the league's defensive player of the week. She led the league with 65 digs over the course of the opening weekend.

Her best performance came Friday night in Milwaukee's win over 18th-ranked Iowa State. She tallied a collegiate-best 29 digs as UWM held the Cyclones to a .133 hitting percentage. Felsing also had 21 digs against Ole Miss and 15 against Illinois State, making 28-straight matches where she has reached double figures in digs.

In the classroom, Felsing carries a 3.982 cumulative grade-point average as a marketing major. She earned the athletic director's award this past spring for having the highest grade-point average in the UWM athletics department.

Felsing and the Panthers return to action this weekend at the Bradley Invitational. UWM will face Bradley and Eastern Michigan Friday before facing SIU-Edwardsville Saturday.
