Kenosha, Wis. - Sammy Woller finished Second-Team All-League the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's cross country team continued its strong push toward the end of the season with nine more personal-record times at the Horizon League Championships at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course at UW-Parkside Saturday.

Milwaukee finished with 147 points on the day for sixth overall. The Panthers edged out Valparaiso (163), Wright State (184) and were just behind Green Bay (145). Loyola won the meet with 28 points.

"The women did awesome today," Milwaukee head coach Pete Corfeld said. "Everyone keeps asking me if I was pleased with their performance and I definitely am. Last year we were last and for us to finish sixth is a big change in that regard, and we were right there competing for fifth and fourth place as a team, so that is a great improvement."

Woller led the way for the Panthers for the fourth time this season, finishing with a time of 18:49, eight seconds fast than her previous best for 13th overall and a spot on the All-Horizon League Second Team.

Sophomore Annette Lemanski continued the PR trend, setting her new top time to 19 minutes, 40 seconds to come in 29th overall.

From there the Panthers just kept coming with the majority of the team racing with a pack mentality. Dana Clausen's sprint up the straightaway helped her take third for UWM and 32nd overall at 19:47. Carissa Schneiter was just behind at 19:49 for 34th place.

Claira Himmel crossed the line in 20:02 to take 39th and round out the scoring for the Panthers. Emily Schaal was just behind Himmel, crossing the line at 20:08 and Ana Wanniarachchi finished with a time of 20:16.

Milwaukee's six top finishers all posted personal records on the day.

Katy Koch (20:25), Paula Kuiper (20:32) and Brooke Jameson (20:47) all also ran well for the Black and Gold Saturday and all also recorded a new PR.

The Panthers return to action in two weeks at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships Nov. 9 in Madison, Wis.
