Panthers Close Out Season At Regionals
Nov. 9, 2012
Madison, Wis. - The Panthers top five runners all finish within one minute of each other as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's cross country team wrapped up its season at the Great Lakes Regional meet Friday afternoon, hosted by the University of Wisconsin. Milwaukee finished 31st at the large meet with 919 points, ahead of Horizon League rival Cleveland State (1,046 point) and right behind league opponents Detroit (804), Green Bay (844) and Valparaiso (854). "I am really proud of these women," Milwaukee head coach Pete Corfeld said. "They all put in the work this year and got better each week. With no seniors on this year's roster, it was challenging for them but they really stepped up and I can't wait to continue to work with them in track season and also next year." Junior Sammy Woller led the way for Milwaukee with a finishing time of 23:28 for 172nd place. Sophomore Dana Clausen was right behind, crossing the line at 23:39, a new personal best. Carissa Schneiter came in at 24 minutes flat, while Annette Lemanski (24:10) and Claira Himmel (24:27) rounded out the scoring for the Panthers. Emily Schaal and Katy Koch also ran well for UWM on the day, finishing just 10 seconds apart and within 10 spots of Milwaukee's fifth-place finisher.
