Panthers Cap Season At Regionals
Nov. 12, 2011
Toledo, Ohio - Senior Kristi Schuette capped her collegiate career by taking 151st to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's cross crounty team at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship Saturday afternoon, hosted by Toledo. Milwaukee only raced three individuals and did not compete in the team portion of the meet, which was won by Michigan with 45 points. "We chose to only run individuals for the future development of the team," UWM head coach Pete Corfeld said. "The women that ran the meet did really well and I think it will help a lot in the future." Schuette led the way for Milwaukee for the sixth time this season in her final race, finishing the 6,000-meter course with a time of 23:27.2. Emily Hamilton finished second for the Panthers. The sophomore crossed the line at 24:09.9, good enough for 181st place. Freshman Annette Lemanski wrapped up the race for UWM, finishing at 24:45.8 for 197th place. The regional meet was the final meet of the season for the Panthers.
